2. Don Robinson accepts an award for his illustration work on Mr. Miyataki’s Marvelous Machine by Tandy Newsome, published by Island Heritage, which won in the Children’s Illustrative or Photographic Books category.
  
3. Jane Gillespie accepted many awards on behalf of Mutual Publishing, publisher of Ku‘e: Thirty Years of Land Struggle in Hawai‘i, by photographer Ed Greevy; as well as on behalf of her own company, BeachHouse Publishing.
  
4. Jon de Mello and Leah Bernstein from the Mountain Apple Company accepted the Award of Excellence for General Hawaiian Culture given to Hawaiian Son: The Life and Music of Eddie Kamae by James D. Houston with Eddie Kamae, published by ‘Ai Pohaku Press in association with The Hawaiian Legacy Foundation. The book also won in the Nonfiction category.
  
5. Juliet S. Kono won the Award of Excellence for Writing Literature for her book, Ho‘olulu Park and the Pepsodent Smile and other stories, published by Bamboo Ridge Press.
  
6. The Fish and Their Gifts/Na Makana a Na I‘a published by Kamehameha Schools Press received the Samuel M. Kamakau trophy for the Hawaii Book of the Year. Shown here are Henry Bennett (KSP director), Joshua Kaiponohea Stender, Dr. Ku Kahakalau, Meleana Meyer, and Waimea Williams.
  
7. Keith and Carmen Haugen entertained on stage while attendees arrived and settled in at the Mission Memorial Auditorium.
  
8. Presenters for the evening, shown taking a break from their podium work, were Steve Hirashima, University of Hawai`i Press, and Angie Britten, Mutual Publishing.
  
9. Artists Roy Chang and Leonard Villanueva were among avid browsers of the 69 titles nominated in the 2005 awards.
